Lighthouse Business Solutions is comprised of three partners with over 100 years of combined experience in the medical device industry. Our consultants have worked as sales reps, sales managers, distributors, and corporate leaders. We understand the unique business needs of your medical device or healthcare organization, and can give you the strategic solutions you need to take your business to the next level.
Greg Rainey has delivered expert business consulting services for established Fortune 500 companies as well as start-up medical device and healthcare companies. He works with company presidents and senior sales executives to identify needs and provide sustainable solutions that help expand the company’s footprint and grow revenue. He specializes in business consulting services in the healthcare industry, particularly in orthopedics, spine, trauma, and sports medicine specialties. Previously, he was Vice President of Sales for the Orthopedic Division of Stryker Corporation.
Greg has also served on the Board of Directors for several organizations. He recently served on the Board of Directors for RTI Biologics and CAS Medical, where he was Chairman of both the Compensation Committee and the Governance Committee. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Catalyst Ortho Science in Naples, FL and Centinel Spine in West Chester, PA. He also serves on the nonprofit Board for the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, where he is Chairman of the Marketing and Strategic Planning Committees.
Greg’s career achievements include restructuring the sales force for a key client, which resulted in a two-year sales growth from $9M to $28M and quadrupled the business’s customer count. He also consulted for a client acquiring a spine company by a multi-divisional medical device organization. The acquisition of the company resulted in significant performance improvements for the client through recruiting high-impact leadership talent.
While at Stryker, Greg integrated two sales forces and led an expansion from 435 sales reps and managers to 700. He led the national sales organization, growing overall sales by $425 million over a 4-year span. He also reduced sales costs by 5.4%, and grew market shares for Spine, Trauma, and Reconstructive. He continued to foster sales growth by implementing a Sales Leadership University and incentive programs to help Stryker build a world-class sales organization. Additionally, he developed and executed a national marketing plan for Stryker featuring a celebrity endorser.
Jim Chessie has over 25 years of experience in medical device sales and management. Prior to forming Lighthouse Business Solutions, Jim worked at Stryker Orthopedics, serving as a sales manager, general manager, and director of sales during his time there. He was also a general manager at JZ Medical / Depuy Joint Reconstruction.
Jim’s experience in medical device sales and management has helped him develop skills in identifying sales opportunities, developing and implementing sales strategies, optimizing sales performance, and negotiating pricing agreements. During his time as General Manager at Stryker Orthopedics, Jim grew sales from $9 million to $19 million. Through Lighthouse Business Solutions, Jim shares his expertise with clients to help them grow business as he has done throughout his career.
Jon Zelensky has worked in the medical device industry for over 30 years. Prior to forming Lighthouse Business Solutions, Jon worked as a sales consultant for Johnson & Johnson Orthopedics. He then went on to work for Depuy Orthopedics (a J&J Company), first as a Territory Manager, and then as a Distributor Principle. This experience has allowed him to gain insights on both the sales side and the distributor side, which helps him advise Lighthouse clients on the right solutions for their businesses.
Jon is a six-time Hall of Fame award winner at Depuy Orthopedics, with three Hall of Fame awards as a sales representative, and three awards as a distributor. He has also been selected as National Sales Representative of the Year, and has received nine sales achievement awards. As a distributor, Jon has received three product line awards, and has received a Distributor Benchmark award.
John Gallant has served as lead trial counsel in hundreds of litigation cases in his extensive trial practice in state and federal courts throughout the United States. He is widely recognized as a skilled, aggressive and effective trial attorney handling a wide variety of complex cases, including those involving business litigation, products liability, real estate, trademark infringement, personal injury, criminal, corporate and other intellectual property matters. In addition, John further acts as corporate counsel for a variety of corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies and other entities ranging from fortune 500 companies to sole partnerships. John was named a Super Lawyer and Top Attorney in litigation by New England Super Lawyers publication in 2004.
Matt LaBelle has been working in and around the operating room since 2005. Matt began his career as a Certified Surgical Technologist, a key member of any surgical team. This clinical background, combined with his strong communication skills, allowed for a successful transition into medical device sales. Matt joined JZ Medical Inc., an exclusive distributor for DePuy Orthopaedics, in 2010.
In his current role, Matt continues to manage multiple product lines across multiple states and does so at the highest level. By identifying needs and finding quality products that provide solutions, customers have come to expect the best from him. These experiences and connections help Matt offer insights to clients on customer expectations, managing sales representatives, and introducing new products.
